kill_all_vagansOkay. So. Vagans and their stupid, stupid MO in Gundam AGE. One that is often contradictory and made worse by the writers only realizing halfway through that Ezelcant's two stated goals (reclaiming Earth for the Vagans and testing the worth of the Earthnoids) didn't mesh well together. So they instead went with the stupid idea that Ezelcant intentionally triggers a massive, century-long war in a setting which'd known longlasting peace due to the Silver Chalice Treaty because doing so would somehow give rise to a peace-loving people. Think like if Treize and Vindel Mauser had a baby that huffed paint every day, and baby would still grow up to have a better evil war scheme than Ezelcant. And that's just Ezelcant's scheme, LOTS of things about the Vagans need to be fixed!
Anyways, in SRWU, the Vagans' backstory can be kept mostly the same. They were a group who, 150 years ago, decided to leave Earth and colonize Mars and space in general. However, they were ill-equipped to deal with the cosmic and solar radiation, to say nothing about the various hostile aliens they encountered and made first contact with. The death toll during their travels is horrific, and the colonists begin to blame Earth for everything that happened to them and intend to return though this will take some time for Second Moon to travel the lengthy distance back to Earth.
At some point, Fezarl Ezelcant discovers the Vagan Gear, which in Uni can be legit alien tech, possibly from a now-extinct race that, like the humans and Balmarians, were created by the Protoculture. It does look a bit like the Astranagant, after all. The colonists begin reverse-engineering various technologies in the Vagan Gear to create their own mobile suits, and they adopt the name "Vagan" for their culture based off of this machine. Returning to Earth and exacting revenge on the people they feel betrayed them becomes their chief concern, and Ezelcant becomes their supreme leader.
However, Ezelcant has a different goal in mind. In the Vagans' time away from Earth, numerous battles and whatnot drew out the X-Rounder potential in many of them, Ezelcant included. However, he grew to hate their violent tendencies and began to blame everything wrong about humanity on X-Rounders and the X-Region in general. Thus, he called for a very long plan, pitched to his fellow Vagans as a path that would inevitably let them return to Earth and punish those that had abandoned them. In reality though, Ezelcant intended for this scheme to be the death of every single X-Rounder of both Vagan and Earth, because surely then humanity would know everlasting peace!
The Vagans geared up for battle, with a number of them infiltrating Earth society as members of a secret society known as EDEN. From there, the Vagans -as the UE- began to attack one colony every seven years. Why be that inactive? Because Lord Ezelcant said so and it's all part of the plan! In reality, it's because Ezelcant did not wish for a prolonged engagement with Earth's forces unless it was confirmed that X-Rounders were accounted for among humanity's defenders. However, come the attack on Nora, this all changes when the Decil (in the Zedas) senses Flit. A budding X-Rounder confirmed, the Vagans shift into full wartime mode, Ezelcant intent on a war that will force humanity to bring their own X-Rounders to the battlefield, wherein they will destroy each other until only peace-loving normal people are left.
Stupid? Hell yeah and everyone'll recognize it. But at least now there's a method to the madness and in Uni, the Vagans will eventually stop fighting when they finally find out how fucking stupid their supreme leader really is.
As for where Yurin fits into all of this? I'm just gonna say she was the daughter of two X-Rounder members of EDEN who died in some random accident and wound up on Nora some way or another, with none of the other members knowing she existed. Hence why they bother capturing her and sticking her in the Farsia.
