Do I want a HMD: Sure why not

Notes: AGE's generation-spanning story is a bit of a doozy to handle, I know, but I'll be willing to work with anyone willing to app gen. 2 or even gen. 3 people on how to make it work.

AGE's overall trainwreck of a narrative also needs a bit of a working over, so I'm going to try to hammer out the Cliff Notes in another entry so it doesn't clog up space here.

Background: Although little is known about Flit's childhood, we do know that he was born the same year that the UE first began attacking space colonies and seven years later, he was living on the space colony Orvan when it came under attack. It's quite possible that the UE had attacked the colony with just one target in mind: Marina Asuno, Flit's mother and genius mech designer who had created the AGE Device and set the foundation for the UE's eventual defeat. Leading credence to this theory is the fact the UE seemed to pull back after Marina was confirmed to be fatally injured, though not before she handed the AGE Device to Flit.

Fast-forward another seven years and Flit's fourteen, living in the colony of Nora, and helping finish his mother's work. The AGE Device is just one part of a trifecta that will help humanity defeat the UE, gathering information from the battle and processing it to find solutions to enemies that current weapons cannot defeat. The second part is the AGE Builder: an automated factory that uses the data the Device gathers to produce those new weapons. And lastly, there is Flit's personal contribution to this all, a mobile suit of his own creation, which will be used with the AGE Device to gather combat data, and then test-drive the weapons the AGE Builder makes... the AGE-1 Gundam.

Personality: Similar to how Setsuna views Gundams with almost a religious admiration, as a bringer of peace that ends conflict, Flit views Gundams as a savior of people. The AGE-1 especially is meant to be a tool that will free people from the threat of the UE, and at the story's start Flit doesn't even have any strong desire to pilot it himself. Being forced to pilot and subsequently being told by his father-figure Hendrick Bruzar to concern himself with saving millions just seconds before Bruzar sacrificed himself to help save everyone on Nora changed this, however, with Flit wanting to take a more active role in saving people and insisting he stay as AGE-1's pilot.

Even before this though, Flit is extremely protective of the AGE-1, not wanting anything done with it without his okay.  It was meant to fight the UE, after all, and he's not going to risk something bad happening that keeps it form doing that.  He worries in his spare time if his contributions are enough to beat the dangers to humanity, he's often motivated to get better (and later make the most of his X-Rounder abilities), and he actively studies information the AGE device gathers himself rather than just feed it to the Builder.

This "savior" mentality leads Flit to go to extreme, heroic lengths to protect others and convince rival factions to join against common, obviously alien enemies. To him, humans should be united against foreign threats, and even prior to becoming a pilot he hates the UE and views them as inhuman monsters.  Unfortunately, it also ultimately spells the end to his innocence when he discovers the true, human identity of the UE/Vagans and motives. The monstrous aliens he'd been fighting against turned out to just be humans all along, and his shock and hatred lead him to adopt a much colder approach towards enemies he deems to either be irredeemable or ultimately enemies of humanity as a whole, even if these enemies are human themselves.  Beforehand, the "Us vs. Them" dynamic was simple enough: humans (and friendly aliens obviously in SRW U) in the "Us" category and all the obviously evil monsters in the second.

Initially, Flit is very reluctant to kill other people in a fight, especially when the gulf in tech or skill is enough he knows he doesn't need to go for lethal attacks to win... but like his character as a whole this darkens when the UE's true nature are revealed to him.  Whereas some Gundam protagonists hesitate or are unwilling to use lethal force against enemies they know personally, Flit has no problem at all with trying to kill them. By that point in his character arc he's determined to save as many people as he can, and another second a bad guy spends living is another second they have to try to kill other people.

Aside from this though, Flit is a fairly friendly and sociable guy. He has friends and he treats them well, and he's just old enough to start having crushes on cute and nice girls too. He understands the importance of family and is sympathetic to other people who've lost their family to hardships. He's also not going to rub his achievements in other people's faces either, though he's insistent that the AGE-1 is his Gundam.

In short, Flit is a child still with idealistic views and a sunny disposition mixed with a very, very strong motivation to be strong and able enough to protect humanity from the monsters that wish it destroyed, this motivation gradually replacing his innocence with a cold determination.

Capabilities and Resources: As far as Gundam protagonists go, Flit's one of the smarter ones at the start. Having dedicated his life to helping stop the UE, he was able to finish his mother's work and was even able to accurately predict the attack on Nora even though nobody else in his school believed him. He was also practical enough to try to hand the AGE-1 off to the first available pilot during said attack, even though he later decides to use it himself.

Later on in Gen. 1, Flit also becomes an "X-Rounder", named after awakening the psychic abilities in the brain's vestigial "X-Region". X-Rounders were AGE's equivalent of Newtypes, but with the fun (and criminally underutilized) twist that the X-Region is associated with aggression and war. X-Rounders are not the next step of evolution, heralding better understanding amongst humans, they're potential devolution into becoming more barbaric. In practice though, pretty much the same thing. Heightened instincts, limited precognitive powers, and empathy. Good stuff all around.

Resources-wise, Flit does what he can to keep the AGE Device on him at all times, which is necessary to activate the AGE-1. He also has a Haro which can double as a PC.

Type: Pilot

Unit Name: Gundam AGE-1 Normal
Unit Description:
Quite literally Flit's personal weapon in the war against the UE, the AGE-1 is a reliable and versatile mobile suit. In its most basic, vanilla form, AGE-1 leaves a lot to be desired at first, but it nevertheless is a considerable improvement over the lowly ESUN Genoaces. For one, it's much tougher, with durability matching if not surpassing that of initial UE suits and tanking fire that would've shredded Genoaces in short order.

At the start, all AGE-1 has is a pair of beam daggers strong enough to damage (but not one-shot) the UE mook Gafran and a modestly sturdy shield. However, a ways into the story the daggers begin to be used as full-blown (and very effective) beam sabers. It's possible that the Mobile Suit mechanic Madorna is the one responsible for this changeover, since he also developed the G-Exes and its own powerful beam sabers.

Most noteworthy is the DODS ("Drill-Orbital Discharge System") Beam Rifle, which takes your traditional beam rifle and adds a drilling force to the shot. Compared to the beam sprayguns used by Genoaces which do negligible (if any) damage to the Gafrans, the DODS rifle can blow them away in one shot. However, the DODS rifle isn't much (if any) better than beam rifles from other Gundam stories though, since dedicated anti-beam countermeasures like the Baqto and Defurse's Electromagnetic Armor can withstand the shots.  In the anime, only Normal mode uses the DODS rifle, though by all rights there's no reason the alternate modes can't use it too.

As a later, artillery-based  upgrade for AGE-1, there is the Zefuld Launcher, which affords AGE-1 an additional pair of extremely powerful warheads it can use to destroy extremely large targets.  For the sake of Normal mode not just being bland and without its own gimmick, the Launchers can be its own special thing.

Much later, around the same time as the Glansa parts are completed, the similar looking Glastron Cannons are finished too.  More on that down below.

Upgrades: Like Gundam SEED's Strike Gundam and Destiny's Impulse, AGE-1 eventually gets a number of alternative modes in the form of different arms and legs known as "Wear Parts". Each different mode is cooked up in response to various enemies the AGE Device determines there's no graceful way of beating under current circumstances. Because there's a number of them I'm going to just give the Cliff Notes versions for the ones I'm intending for Flit to eventually get.

Gundam AGE-1 Titus: A bulky and hands-on form made to answer the problem of fighting in areas where collateral damage is a serious risk. Compared to the AGE-1 Normal, Titus is considerably slower and suffers against agile enemies, but the various beam emitters on the Gundam's arms, knees, and shoulders allow it to overpower even the UE's similarly slow powerhouse Baqto with ease with a vastly reduced risk of accidental damage due to missed attacks. Its armor is also much stronger, helping minimize the damage that those pesky speedy mooks land before Titus hopefully can land a hit. Lastly, Titus can disengage its limiters to engage a "Maximum Output" mode, pretty much turning it into a flying mass of destruction.

Gundam AGE-1 Sparrow: The Sparrow parts give AGE-1 an extremely agile form adorned with maneuvering thrusters. Sparrow's primary weapon is the extremely heavy and sharp Shigeru Blade, a physical dagger capable of blocking beam sabers and cutting through through thick armor. For long-ranged combat, Sparrow has powerful needle dart cannons mounted in its knees with similar power. However, Sparrow is very fragile and requires the momentum of its thrusters to make the most of the Shigeru blade; losing just one limb drastically lowers its fighting strength and the blade itself loses its edge though excessive use.

Gundam AGE-1 Starks: Another speedster mode, the Starks pack comes equipped with numerous thrusters to give AGE-1 tremendous straightaway charging speed, setting it up to deliver devastating blows with its "Root Reiber" beam lance. Considering this is its specialty, it's possible that Starks actually is even faster than Sparrow in these circumstances, though it sacrifices Sparrow's unrivaled mobility in exchange.

Gundam AGE-1 Razor: Expanding on Sparrow's Shigeru Blade, Razor mode goes all-in with four similar and very heavy "Razor Blades", one mounted on each limb. Unlike Sparrow's knife, Razor's blades have a multilayered structure which lets them last much longer, and the arm blades can be combined together and thrown like a boomerang to attack enemies from a distance. Though not as fast as Sparrow mode, it can use additional weaponry such as the DODS Rifle and has no glaring weaknesses, though it has a very high skill requirement to use efficiently due to the potentially unwieldy nature of its heavy blades.  I'm intending for Razor to be Flit's endgame upgrade, brought out during his final battle with Decil.

Coinciding with the completion of the AGE-1 Razor was the development of a beam machinegun (or at least that's what the AGE game called it), which has a considerably faster rate of fire from the old DODS rifle with only a minor loss in stopping power.

Gundam AGE-1 Glansa: Glansa is less a legit mode and more parts that grant AGE-1 a much-needed defensive boost with extra armor with an anti-beam coating, along with missile launchers and a pair of powerful shield-mounted beam rifles that can double as humongous beam sabers.  By all rights, there's nothing keeping it from being mounted on any of AGE-1's other forms.  Canonically, Razor predates Glansa, but since I want to save Razor for the final fight with Decil, Flit'll be able to get this earlier.  Probably after a nasty fight where AGE-1 really needed better defense.

However, just for the sake of balance, AGE-1 needs to be in its Normal mode to bring out the full strength of the Glansa parts.  Let's say it's because Normal doesn't have any special systems or gimmicks to eat up reactor power, power which can thus be used to power the successors to the Zefuld Launchers known as the Glastron Cannons. The Glastron Cannons fire powerful artillery beam blasts, and with the Cannons equipped, the name is changed to Full Glansa.

Additionally, at some point in time, the AGE-1 and its parts also get reverse-engineered, with the end result being the mass-produced Adele suit.  Essentially, think of Genoaces like Balls and the Adeles like the proper GM equivalent, complete with able to use all of the the AGE-1's wear parts

Wingmen: None

Mission requirement: Flit won't be able to be introduced until AGE's first mission, and all his upgrades are set for his missions too.  I also figured that some of the data for AGE-1's additional modes and stuff get gathered from other missions Flit goes on, but the needs are fairly basic for those too, so a big tanky enemy he needs more power against, or fast enemies he can't keep up with etc.

I'd also like for Flit's transformation into an X-Rounder to happen gradually over the course of the Gen. 1 plot.  At first it would be extremely minor and those lucky shots, defensive actions, and whatnot can be chalked up to maybe just really good reflexes.  But as time goes on and they become more focused, Flit'll get to find out about the X-Region and all that lovely stuff.

Suggested Event List:

1. The Twisted Colony: The Unity Group, along with at least one or two other viable and concerned groups, get called to the colony of Nora in preparation for an oncoming UE attack.  This is thanks to Flit's calculations and predictions getting taken seriously, and it gives players a chance to meet Flit prior to the start.  Anyways, the idea is that for once, we should be ready for the UE-

-Except the attack comes not from outside of the colony but inside!  Somehow the UE must've taken the opportunity to sneak their own forces in somehow (helpful when everyone thinks you're alien), and the initial blitzing catches lots of our allies with their pants down.  In the midst of fighting, Flit's sorties in the AGE-1 to help out and along the way the DODS rifle's sent to him and he winds up letting a little lost girl (Yurin) climb into the Gundam to stay safe.  In spite of everyone's efforts though, the colony's doomed from the start due to the Gafrans outside of Nora using colony destroyers and the mission soon changes into trying to minimize damage to the collapsing colony to buy time for the civilians to flee to the central core which'll then be ejected by Bruzar as in the series.  During which, the Zedas arrives to make life extra miserable for everyone, dodging damn near everything.

As per canon, Bruzar dies with that speech about Flit trying to save many lives instead of just one, the civvies are saved, Nora collapses, etc.

Enemies: Gafrans (normal and command type), the Zedas

2. The Demon Boy: Less of an actual mission and more of an event.  At some point, Flit'll meet Decil and one thing'll lead to another right before a mission begins and Decil will end up stealing the AGE Device from Flit, acting as an NPC ally who just wants to have some fun and gets to use AGE-1 hell of a lot better than Flit can.  Flit himself may show up using a mook suit later in the mission, but it's not necessary and Decil'll return the AGE-1 afterwards.

Enemies: None

3. The Light and Shadow of <wherever>: Prior to this mission, Flit gets to reunite with Yurin again wherever!  Yay!  But during the mission, the unthinkable happens: another UE attack... even though previously there was a seven year gap between appearances by them!  It's second verse, same as the first (or so we're all lead to think), but in addition to the Gafrans, there's also the arrival of several Baqtos who get to show off their Electromagnetic Armor.

Fortunately, AGE-1 by then will have gone through plenty of tough fights against durable enemies, and since the Vagans have shown up once more, it's time to unveil the AGE System's new Titus parts!

Enemies: Gafrans (normal and command type), Baqtos

In the aftermath of this, we'll get reports that yes, the UE have become fully active in the Earth Sphere, though fortunately groups are now able to deal with them.

4. Workshop In Flames: A summons from the talented civilian mechanic Mukured Madorna brings us to his expansive workshop out in space.  The reason?  He's fairly certain that some random doo-dads (in reality the Farsia's bits) are UE tech.  Unfortunately, he doesn't manage to get anything else out before these little flower things suddenly activate and start blasting up the place.  Whilst fighting against them, we get a message sent from a mysterious individual, telling Madorna that he should've just done his job and not called the Unity Group, because now everyone's going to die.

And outside of Madorna's Workshop, UE warships decloak and launch their mooks, fully intent on destroying the station and killing all of us to silence what little we've learned from all of this.  And the Zedas is back, gunning for the AGE-1!  Flit, either in the AGE-1 Titus or Normal, is going to be pretty outmatched against the speedster mobile suit, and the UE ships are also going to be doing a number on Madorna's workshop even in spite of everyone's contributions...

... But the Diva'll arrive to help save the day, using its Photon Blaster Cannon to damage or destroy a UE battleship.  And more importantly, the AGE Builder's got new parts for the AGE-1 to help it deal with its speedy nemesis.  The AGE-1 Sparrow gets to debut and kick ass, Flit may get to have an X-Rounder Sensing moment with the pilot of the Zedas, and when all is said and done we get a legit victory over the UE (though the Fa Bose and Zedas need to survive)... and more importantly, Madorna has a name for us: Yark Dole.  The man who sent him the parts who Grodek will comment also allegedly sent some mobile suits to help with the defense of Nora though his were never accounted for after the battle.  Considering all of this, sounds like he's selling humanity out to the UE, and he's our link to tracking them down.

Enemies: Farsia Bits, Gafrans (normal and command type), Baqtos, UE warships Fa Zeos, UE flagship Fa Bose, the Zedas

5. Those Tears Fall In Space (Gen. 1 finale): Yark Dole's been traced to the abandoned space fortress Ambat, which he purchased in the distant past.  Take into account of the locations of various places the UE have attacked along with Ambat's current location and things are adding up that Ambat is their hideout.  A plan of attack is drafted up and we all launch to kick some serious UE ass.  But Ambat's guarded not just by mooks but by the Fa Bose, which will have to be taken down one way or another (ship superlasers or other heavy-hitting attacks are a good choice).

Amidst all of this though, Flit and optionally other people get to encounter the source of those flower-like bits from the last mission: the Farsia.  And not only that, the Zedas is back once more too and its pilot finally decides to reveal himself to us.  It's Decil!  Holy crap, he's working with the UE too?!?  And just as some big attack is launched on the Farsia, Decil finally reveals the Farsia's pilot is none other than Yurin... prompting Flit to dive in and try to take the hit for her!  She may not have a pilot's skill, but she can serve as a conduit for Decil to control the Farsia and use its weaponry.

Between that and any other damage Flit's taken, the AGE-1's going to be in rough shape, and when Decil moves in for the kill Yurin's going to return the favor and shield him at the cost of her life.  Thus X-Rounder psychic dreamscape stuff... though for the sake of avoiding stupid writing, Yurin can say that she was terrified and strongarmed into everything, with the only thing that kept her from giving into despair was knowing she'd eventually see Flit again (as opposed to the series when she willingly helped the Vagans).  Yurin then dies, the shock of it fully awakening Flit's X-Rounder abilities and enabling him to finish off Decil (though not kill him because we don't know UE cockpits are in the heads, not the chests).  The Fa Bose gets destroyed one way or another amidst all of this, and but Ambat itself is still a threat, and enough of one that taking it down from outside is impractical.  Fortunately, with all the damage it's sustained there's plenty of ways into Ambat, and from there our goal is station's reactor.

Intercepting us though is none other than Yark Dole himself in the Defurse... or rather, "Geera Zoi", his true name.  And he's pretty darned determined to stop the Unity Group.  The fight against him eventually spills over into the reactor room itself, and during the midst of that and trying to find out why he's selling out humanity the truth is finally revealed.  The UE are not aliens but humans; the survivors and descendants of a failed Mars/space colonization project.  The exact details and differences between canon and my stupidity-reducing revisions can be found here, and Geera's rant over the course of the fight exists so we can skip the on-foot confrontation sequence afterwards.

The Defurse is eventually destroyed, Geera dies praising Ezelcant and gushing about how he's returning to Earth, and the UE, or rather the Vagans, in the Earth Sphere at the moment have been defeated.  But there'll be more, sooner or later...

Enemies: Gafrans (normal and command type), Baqtos, the Zedas (piloted by Decil Galette), the Farsia, the Defurse (piloted by Geera Zoi), UE flagship Fa Bose, Ambat
